Now customers, authorities and industries considers an ASME stamp as one of the parameters to measure how much dedicated a business towards the quality and safety of the products and thereby assuring them how dependable and safe the pressure vessel is. So it is always better to get the pressure vessel and its accessories registered a valid authority.
Main Benefits:
Reducing Risks: ASME stamp helps to get the insurance claims easier and faster.
Quality: ASME inspection by third parties ensures better quality.
Safer Pressure Products: An ASME stamp certifies that the tank containing potentially dangerous substances was correctly manufactured and thereby ensuring safety of everyone who comes in contact these vessels.
Pressure Vessel Certifications
Most commonly used ASME certification for pressure vessels are listed below:
1) ASME R Stamp
ASME R is issued by a member of the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel or a representative, depending on the jurisdictional requirements after an onsite assessment for the alteration and/or repair of pressure vessels, boilers, and other pressure-retaining equipment.
2) ASME S Stamp
In accordance with Section I of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code ASME S allows firms to build power boilers, power pipelines, and ASME Pressure Retaining Parts
3) ASME U Stamp
The ASME U Stamp is used for pressure vessel certification and acceptance by confirming that the vessel was designed and constructed in under ASME specifications for design, construction, inspection, and testing. The presence of the “U” sign on a product indicates that it complies with the most recent edition of the Code.
ASME establishes stringent standards for pressure vessels to provide the utmost safety of life and property. Some struct rules must be followed by manufacturers to get the ASME stamp. The inspectors appointed by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors must examine and approve the calculations of the pressure vessel. Manufacturer registered with the National Board is a must for fabrication of ASME U stamped pressure vessels.
Requirements for an ASME U stamp are as follows:
Raw material must meet detailed specifications before they can be used
Before weld materials can be used, it must meet detailed specifications
ASME certified welders
Material thickness and tank calculations must meet ASME-controlled standards for the specific operating conditions.
A re-qualification audit is required every three years by a representative of the national board of pressure vessels.
This shows the strict approach for pressure vessel ASME stamp qualification procedure. So, one can easily find out whether a certain company is ASME certified or not.
